ACCEPTABLE USE PROCEDURES TO ACCOMPANY
ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY GBCC (IIBG)

I. ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURES
Orientation is required for all students and employees regarding acceptable and unacceptable use of computers, computer networks, and electronic resources.

A. Student Orientation

All students will be oriented annually on the acceptable and unacceptable use of computers, computer networks and electronic resources using the following procedures:

1. Group orientation using District-developed video.
2. Internet RNet Test filed for each student, one for elementary, one for middle, one for high school.
3. Parent Permission letter and agreement to acceptable use-signed yearly.

B. Employee Orientation

All employees who have access to computers and computer networks will be oriented annually on the acceptable and unacceptable use of computers, computer networks and electronic resources using the following procedures:

1. Group orientation using District developed video.
2. Written acknowledgment and agreement to acceptable and unacceptable use of computers, computer networks, and support services on file.

II. IDENTIFICATION OF UNETHICAL/UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR
Computers, computer networks and electronic resources are to be used to support learning, focus on curricular objectives, and to enhance instruction. Computer networking allows people to interact with many computers. The Internet, a network of networks, allows people to interact with hundreds of thousands of networks and computers. It is the policy of the Rialto Unified School District that all computers, networks, and electronic resources are to be used in a responsible, efficient, ethical, and legal manner (GBCC). Failure to adhere to the policy and the guidelines for the use of computers and networks, as described below, will result in disciplinary action.

Unethical/Unacceptable Behavior
Use of computers, networks, or electronic resources for illegal, inappropriate, or obscene purposes, or in support of such activities is in contradiction with District philosophy and acceptable use standards. Illegal activities shall be defined as a violation of local, state, and/or federal laws. Inappropriate use shall be defined as a violation of the intended use of the computer/network, and/or purpose or goal. Obscene activities shall be defined as a violation of generally accepted social standards for use of a publicly-owned and operated communication vehicle. Examples of unethical unacceptable use of District technology equipment includes the following:

III. CONSEQUENCES OF VIOLATIONS
Consequences of violations include but are not limited to:

IV. REMEDIES AND RECOURSES
If a person is accused of any of the violations, that person has all of the rights and privileges that he/she would have if he/she were accused of other school violations.

The District has the right to restrict or terminate computer/network, Internet access, and/or electronic resources at any time for any reason. The District further has the right to monitor network activity in any form that it sees fit, to maintain the integrity of the network.
