Eisenhower Home Economics Program Certified as Program of Excellence

In March 1999, Eisenhower High School was awarded the Home Economics Careers and Technology Incentive Grant. This grant enabled the school to improve and expand classes offered through the Home Economics Department. Eisenhower High School was certified as a Program of Excellence in August 2000.

The intent of the grant was to assist schools in preparing students for high demand careers in Food Service and Restaurants; Hospitality, Tourism and Recreation; Fashion Design, Manufacturing and Merchandising, and Child Development and Education.

Eisenhower's Home Economics Careers and Technology Programs offers students courses in all of the Consumer and Family Studies content areas. Students following the Child Development and Education career pathway may take a seven-course sequence culminating in the Careers with Children Program. Students may also follow a sequence of courses in Foods and Nutrition and in Fashion, Textiles and Apparel.
