Eisenhower High School track and field athlete, Marisa Jernigan, was named Female Athlete of the Week in the San Bernardino Sun newspaper. In the Tuesday, April 30, 2002, edition of The Sun, Jernigan was celebrated for her outstanding performances in a meet with Redlands East Valley the week before.
As mentioned in the article, Marisa won the pole vault event with an effort of 9 feet.
