Anthony Nickols was a senior at Ike in the fall of 1997, when he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. The cancer was in the advanced stage when he was diagnosed. At the age of 19, he died from pneumonia and other effects of the cancer.
On Saturday, April 16, the Anthony J. Nickols Jr. Foundation will host its third annual Walk for Life event at Eisenhower. Proceeds from the walk will benefit children with cancer and their families. In 2004, there were 200 registered participants.
A health and fitness fair will also be held at Eisenhower High School's football field. The walk and fair will take place from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm.
