Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Claudia (Salters) Smith recently took part in a two-day dock trial on board the USNS Comfort, one of two hospital ships serving the U.S. military. The experience helped to build on the lifesaving skills she uses at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
Claudia, a 1994 graduate, says that her choice to be a corpsman was fueled by a desire to help others, and that her future plans include getting a bachelor's degree in health care administration and nursing so she can become a naval nurse corps officer.
