Former Ike Teacher Honored With Quad Dedication

Charles Wesley Grande, was honored with a high school quad dedication in his name on Thursday, October 5, 2006. The Rialto Unified School District Board of Education approved the dedication of the quad to Grande which will be affectionately called “The GQ” (Grande Quad). Grande, who began teaching History at Ike in 1964, retired from there in 2001. He was known as the “intellectual warrior” who led Eisenhower High School’s Mock Trial Teams to recognition for their performances at Regional and State Competitions.

In his tenure as an Ike History teacher, Grande was nominated “Teacher of the Year” multiple times. He was nominated for the State’s Golden Apple Award and served as advisor for “the most successful Mock Trial Team in the history of Eisenhower High School. During the time Grande was teaching at Ike, he was also a professor from 1969 through 2001 at San Bernardino Valley College, Riverside Community College and Crafton Hills College.
