Alex Varner was recognized by the John R. Wooden Award Committee as the Division II basketball player of the year. He will be honored at a banquet along with the college players. He will receive a plaque and $300 will be awarded to the school's athletic fund in his honor. More information can be found at the Wooden Award site.
Varner is the second Eisenhower basketball player to receive this honor. Andrew Bock was selected in 2008-09 as the Division II player of the year.
