Authorized in the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB), the District offers NCLB-PSC to parents of all students enrolled in a Program Improvement (PI) school and Schools-At-Risk for PI. As required by NCLB, the California Department of Education has identified Title I schools as PI based on the school not meeting academic targets known as Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for two consecutive years. Students enrolled in a PI school or Schools At-Risk for PI receive the option to transfer to a non-PI school.In addition, the California Department of Education also designates Title I Schools At-Risk of being identified for Program Improvement in the next school year. Schools-At-risk for PI may or may not be eligible for the NCLB-PSC program depending on test results in Spring 2012.The list may change due to California Department of Education data not being available at Choices brochure print time.

 NCLB-PSC gives parents whose children attend PI schools or Schools At-Risk for PI, the option to transfer to another Non-PI school. District-paid transportation is provided to students who have enrolled in the NCLB-PSC program based on District guidelines.

 Priority for NCLB-PSC applications must be given to thyour e "lowest achieving children from low income families."

 If your child participates in the NCLB-PSC program, child will no longer be eligible for free Supplemental Educational Service

District-Paid transportation is provided for ELEMENTARY (K-5) applicants if they reside outside a two-mile radius or outside the resident attendance boundary, whichever is further.
The eligibility distance for SECONDARY students (grades 6-8) is if they reside outside residence attendance boundary.
