English / Spanish Language Arts

Rialto Unified School District’s English and Spanish Language Arts programs are designed to develop strong literacy skills, critical thinking, and academic language in both English and Spanish. Through high‑quality, standards‑aligned instruction, students learn to read, write, speak, and listen effectively while building the language skills needed for success across all content areas.

Our programs honor students’ linguistic and cultural assets while supporting English learners as they progress toward bilingualism, biliteracy, and academic achievement. Instruction is intentionally aligned to California’s academic expectations to ensure students meet grade‑level standards and are prepared for college, career, and civic life.

By integrating the ELA and ELD standards, Rialto USD ensures that language development and literacy instruction work together to support all learners—especially multilingual students—on their path to long‑term academic success.
